About Us
Free Span Bridge Company was formed in 2002 by David Telles, a Scottsdale real estate developer.
Mr. Telles' core business was land development. In 2002, Mr. Telles subdivided a parcel on North Scottsdale Road just north of Dixiletta Drive named The Pallisades. The property required a bridge that was priced out of reach. Not being able to afford the cost, Mr. Telles hired a structural engineer and built the bridge himself for 1/4 the cost.
Free Span Bridge was formed.
How NOT to design a Bridge?
Most bridges are built by towns and cities who hire an architect to design an arch, truss or other type of bridge that first and foremost, looks pretty. Then, they hire an engineer to make it structurally sound. The cost is built into the bridge up front.
Free Span Bridge analyses the length and width of a future bridge then engineers the least expensive design to safley get across, whether it be pre-cast concrete, pre-fabricated metal, or other acceptable, basic design. Then, the owner can beautify the top as much as they want. But the owner is in control of costs, not an architect.
